Tryouts, tournaments and camp dates

Everything on the APEC Baseball calendar in one place — tryouts by age group, the tournament schedule for both organizations, and development camp dates.

Dates to be announced. The 2027 tryout, tournament and camp calendar is still being finalized with both organizations. Everything on this page is the structure of the year, not a confirmed schedule — we publish dates only once venues and entries are locked. Ask to be notified and a coach will send your age group’s dates the day they are set.

Tryouts

Come show us what you have.

Tryouts run by age group in Louisiana, and rosters are small, so spots are genuinely limited. In Dallas/Fort Worth we are forming a new organization — see how to join.

  1. REQUEST A SPOT

Send the player’s name, birth year, primary and secondary positions, and current team. A coach replies with the date, time and location for his age group.

  2. SHOW UP READY

Bring glove, bat, helmet, cleats, turf shoes and water. Catchers bring full gear. Arrive dressed and warm — the evaluation starts before the first rep.

  3. GET EVALUATED

Run, throw, field, hit. We score tools, but we also watch how a player handles a bad rep and how he treats the kid next to him. Both count.

  4. HEAR BACK EITHER WAY

Every player who tries out gets a direct answer and honest feedback — including the ones we don’t take. No family is left guessing.

Missed the tryout date? Rosters occasionally open mid-year. Send an inquiry and we will tell you honestly whether there is a realistic spot rather than scheduling a look for the sake of it.

Tournaments

Where the week gets tested.

Every APEC team plays a national-level tournament schedule. Entries and coach travel are billed at cost and split by roster, one week before each event — the full breakdown is on the fees page.

NATIONAL PROGRAM INVITATIONAL

The NPI is PBR’s invitation-only event for whole programs rather than single rosters — 15U, 16U and 17U play the same week, so an organization is judged on its depth, not on one good team. The 2026 edition ran 4–8 June with 156 teams.

Wood bats, a four-game guarantee, and one of the heaviest college and pro scouting turnouts of the summer.

WWBA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Perfect Game’s World Wood Bat Association championships are the largest wood-bat events in the country, run age group by age group across June and July at Perfect Game Park at LakePoint. Fields have run past 180 teams from two dozen states in a single division.

Every game is scouted and graded by Perfect Game, and standout performances feed their national showcase invitations — which is the practical reason the older groups are there.

LAKEPOINT SPORTS

Both events run at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia, about forty minutes north of Atlanta — a 1,300-acre complex whose Baseball Village carries eight major-league-sized fields on synthetic turf, with lights and fixed cameras on every one.

Turf matters more than it sounds: a rained-out weekend in Georgia in July costs a family a flight and a hotel and returns nothing. At LakePoint the games get played.

FIVE EVENTS A YEAR

Each team carries roughly five tournaments across the calendar. We would rather play five that matter than fifteen that fill a weekend.

HOW WE PICK THEM

Events are chosen for the level of competition and, for the older groups, who is in the stands. A tournament that does not test the work does not go on the schedule.

WHAT FAMILIES PAY

Entry fees and coach travel are billed at cost and split by roster, one week out. No surprise charges mid-trip. Scout Team families pay nothing.

Development camp

The four-day camp.

The APEC Baseball Development Camp runs at the Fort Worth facility: full medical screening, the eleven-test athletic battery scored out of 33, four days of training and instruction from former pros, and a program to take home.
