APEC Baseball Development Camp

Four days. Graded against the big leagues.

A full baseball performance experience at APEC: an MLB-level medical screening, eleven tests scored out of 33, four days of speed, power and functional baseball strength, hitting and pitching lessons from former pros — and a personalised program on the APEC app to take home.

Every score is graded against the major leaguers who train in the same building.

What’s the point

Baseline metrics, measured against the big leagues.

The APEC Development Camp provides baseline metrics for your athlete and shows how he compares to Major League Baseball players.

These key statistics give us the insight to build an individualized program — one that helps your baseball player progress faster, and responds to his individual training needs.

The Athletic Score

Eleven tests. One number out of 33.

Every test is scored 0 to 3 against age-group standards. Add the eleven together and you get the Athletic Score: 0 to 33, where 33 is a perfect elite result. No opinions, no “he looked good today” — a position on the curve.

The same battery runs on everyone in the building. That is what makes it mean something: a fifteen-year-old and a major league outfielder are measured on the identical scale, so improvement is visible and comparison is honest.

SpeedAccelerationLaser-timed sprint, 5–15 yards. First-step burst out of the box or off the bag.
SpeedMax velocityLaser-timed sprint, 30–40 yards. Top-end speed once he is up and running.
SpeedChange of directionLaser-timed curved sprint. Cutting, rounding a bag, reacting in the outfield.
Lower powerCounter-movement jumpForce-plate vertical, hands on hips. Explosive power through the legs and hips.
Lower powerBroad jumpStanding horizontal jump, measured by tape. Power projected forward, not up.
Lower powermRSITen rapid jumps, top-five average. How fast he puts force back into the ground.
Lower powerPower squatPeak power at a set resistance. Force produced at speed, not a one-rep max.
Upper powerPlyo push-upForce-plate push, propulsion measured against bodyweight. Upper-body explosiveness.
Upper powerParallel rotationStationary rotational peak power. The engine behind bat speed and arm velo.
Absolute strengthMid-thigh pullForce driven into the plates at dead-lift height. Raw strength, no technique tax.
Anaerobic capacityVersa ClimberMax distance in one continuous 30-second bout. What is left in the tank late.

What the number looks like in practice

A big leaguer went from 16 to 28

An ALCS MVP tested at 16 out of 33 on his first session with us. On his retest he scored 28 — quicker over 5–15 yards, a broad jump from 9’5” to 10’3”, power squat from 2,879 to 3,322, mid-thigh pull from 4,185 to 5,149. He was already a major league outfielder when he started.

That is the argument for testing. If a professional had that much left on the table, a fourteen-year-old has more — and neither of them would have known which gaps to attack without the numbers.

The board on the wall

Will you beat the bigs?

Every test has its own leaderboard at APEC, and the marks on it belong to major leaguers. Your son’s number goes up next to theirs. Some of them get beaten by high schoolers — that is the fun of it.

What’s included

Everything, for four days

  • Four days of speed, power and functional baseball strength
  • Medical integration — prehab and post-workout rehabilitation with APEC therapists
  • Initial testing assessment with pro-level comparisons
  • Exit testing to measure what the program actually moved
  • Two hitting and pitching lessons from former professional players
  • Cold tub, hot tub and sauna access
  • Supplementation before, during and after every workout
  • Two sport-specific chef-catered meals
  • App-based programming to keep progressing after he leaves

After the camp

Personalized training, delivered from his camp results.

The four days produce a profile: eleven test scores, an arm-care reading, a movement screen and everything the coaches saw on the floor. That profile is what the program is written from.

He leaves with a training block built for the gaps his own numbers exposed — not a generic plan handed to every athlete who walked through.

  1. BUILT FROM HIS NUMBERS

The weakest scores in the battery set the priorities. A slow first step, a low reactive-strength index and a rotational-power deficit each get a different block — and none of them get the same block as the athlete next to him.

  2. DELIVERED ON THE APEC APP

Full workout days with video for every movement, warm-ups, arm care and nutrition, on the same app the professionals in the building use between seasons.

  3. SCALED TO WHERE HE TRAINS

Written for the equipment he actually has — a full weight room, a high school gym or a garage — so the program survives the drive home.

  4. MEASURED AGAIN

The same eleven tests re-run on his next visit. Either the number moved or the program changes. That is the whole accountability loop.

The tools behind it

Arm care and the training app

ARMCARE ASSESSMENT

ArmCare technology reads strength, fatigue and recovery to individualise training and unlock velocity gains. We use it across the whole camp — to set each day’s training load, to personalise the program he takes home, and to measure whether the program worked.

An arm score and an internal/external rotation balance, tracked rather than guessed.

THE APEC TRAINING APP

He leaves with a personalised program on the same app our professionals use nationwide to stay tuned up between seasons.

Full workout days with video examples, warm-up routines and nutritional resources — so the four days turn into a year of work instead of a good weekend.

Open to everyone

You do not have to play for us

The Development Camp is open to any player on any team, and to whole programs bringing a roster through together. Plenty of families come through the screening, take the program home and never put on an APEC jersey. That is fine. The point is that he stops guessing.
